Tacos have been eaten since before the Spanish conquest of South America, but the tacos the Spanish conquistadors where greeted with bared little in common with the fast food ones many Americans have grown to love. Portland is a great little city. Although downtown was dead a few decades ago, it’s come back with a vengeance, and has plenty of bars and restaurants in all categories. The now multiple ethnic groups add a lot of culinary flavor, and the nearby sea means seafood and that’s a lot more than just Maine Lobster, which is of course available most everywhere.
